Half X Forehand - Titan Tennis Drill

Sarah Pont

Meike Babel has developed a series of custom drills exclusively for Titan using the Titan ONE tennis machine and we want to share them with the Titan tennis community.

A lot of tennis players struggle with the constant up and back movement that depends on how deep the incoming ball is. If the ball is short, they stretch a lot and let the ball drop. Or on deeper balls, they don’t give themselves enough space and they either get jammed or the ball bounces out of their strike zone.

With the Half X Forehand drill, you’ll work on adjusting to different heights and depths of the balls and keep the ball in your ideal strike zone which is below the shoulder and above the hip ideally. You’re also, of course, working on staying balanced.

You’ll put the machine on the baseline, in the middle of the court. The machine will alternate between deeper balls that push you off the baseline and shorter balls that you need to move up to. Make sure you always recover towards the middle to your ideal spot of recovery. And if you do that correctly it looks like a Half X.

You can watch Meike practice her custom 2 line drill, download the drill using the QR code at the end of the video using the Titan Drills app and then play it on your Titan ONE or Titan ACE pickleball machine.
