Floating Volleys - Titan Tennis Drill

Sarah Pont

Meike Babel's "Floating Volleys" tennis drill focuses on returning a floating volley.

These are the volleys that many players think of as easy volleys because they’re slightly higher and slower. But they’re still quite tricky because you have to move to the ball and generate all the power yourself. Many times players just swing with their arm instead of moving through with their legs.

You will get alternating forehands and backhands and you start a little bit behind the service line. You don’t want to wait for the ball to come to you and let it drop. Ideally, you will explode up to the ball and try to hit the ball above the net line. It’s ok to have a little bit of take-back but you still need to make contact in front of you. Make sure to recover behind the service line after each volley.

You can watch Meike practice her shots with the Floating Volley drill, download the drill using the Titan Drills app and then play it on your Titan ONE or Titan ACE pickleball machine.
