Overhead Lobs - Titan Tennis Drill
Meike Babel's "Overhead Lobs" tennis drill focuses on returning an overhead lob.
For a lot of players, the overhead poses a bit of a problem. They don’t like to work on overheads because they’re not that good at hitting them and of course, they’re not as good because they don’t practice them very often!
I’m placing the machine right in the middle behind the baseline and I’m also setting up targets that stay away from lines. You’ll start about halfway from the net to the service line because that's most likely the position you’re in when you’re getting lobbed. Make sure that you turn immediately and use a cross over as your first step or at least side shuffles. That way you move very quickly to get back. If you backpedal, you’re slower AND you’re off balance. There is variation in the feeds in depths and location and you want to move being turned already. If it’s a shorter ball you move up under it with shuffles as well. After each overhead make sure you recover to your initial position.
