As part of our ongoing commitment to improving our products we are reviewing the Titan Remote. We would love your input on what functions you'd like the Titan Remote to include.
The current functions of the Titan Remote include:
- Start / Stop the ball feed via a long press on the button
- Switch between drills via short clicks of the button (1 click = drill 1, 2 clicks = drill 2 etc)
As part of the improvements to the Titan Ball machines we are looking to increase the number of drills the ball machine can store in its memory. Would users still be interested in using the remote to toggle through the drills or would users prefer just a stop / start ball feed function?
Please provide your comments below.
Thanks!
I'd just prefer this on my Apple Watch where there's actually a screen to see more info.
Stop/Start would be sufficient so that the remote is light and cheap. I would totally get the Remote.
The issue with the phone app is that when the app stops being connected to the ball machine after a while, so to stop the ball machine it first needs to reconnect which means it takes ages to stop the feed.
I was informed by the company that sells the Ernie pickleball machine that they have a 16-function remote that fits in your pocket that will adjust everything on the fly (speed, height, spin, etc.) as well as have some quick saved buttons that will start pre-selected routines so you can switch between them. They are going to include it for free on all machines being sold rather than charge for it. They said they'll announce it in a few days.
I'd be happy just to be able to buy a remote that would start and stop it. But the watch app would also be perfect!! As far as features you could easily add options like remotes that will be able to change drills or adjust a specific category being most people use this machine outside not inside...
While the ability to scroll through drills sounds interesting without any display I'd probably struggle getting it to the one I wanted. If a start/stop would be cheaper to build I'd be happy with that and use my phone to change drills when I wanted. I also would like to plug building an app for my smartwatch. I'm a Samsung user (Galaxy watch) so would really like to see that as it would give me everything I need without having my phone in my pocket.
Apple Watch app would be perfect.
remote is good going through drills. But don't know what drill your on until it starts firing.
First and foremost a remote needs to be small and lightweight to fit in a pocket while drilling. Aside from start/stop it should easily switch between drills. Having to press the button the corresponding number of times to the drill # is clunky, especially if machine will hold 24 drills. Editing a drill should be limited to the app. Using a smartwatch should accomodate Apple and Android.
Hello everyone, I think a small, light remote control with 1, max 2 buttons would be ideal. I could imagine it like with the MegaDrill, where you can select the drills you want to advance with the remote control. Apple or Android Smart Watch is all well and good. But I can't do anything with that. I have a Garmin 🤷♂️ That's how I would imagine it:
When can we expect the remote control?
Thank you
Happy Tennis Playing
Now that winter is coming, I've moved my Titan to my basement dink zone (formally the ping pong area.) I tried using the remote for the first time today while I was recording a video with my phone. Big mistake, I thought I had pressed the button to stop the drill but instead I moved from Drill 12 (random dink) to Drill 1 which was firing balls over the bar in my basement. Fortunately, I didn't hit any of the glass or bourbon.
With that experience, I think it it is essential that a remote has a small display to at least show what drill number you are on. It is too easy to get start/stop confused with switch drills. Ideally, though, there'd be an Apple Watch app.
If not that, the ability to pair my own Bluetooth remote and assign buttons would be ok. For instance, I have a footpedal I used with my iPad to flip pages forward and backwards on sheet music I use while playing guitar at church. Long press of right pedal to start, long press of left pedal to stop, quick press of right or left for forward and back a page. Would be great to find something with that functionality but in a wrist band format.
Please add an Apple Watch app. The first version could just have a start/stop button. Just that would be a huge improvement. Later, if you wanted to add switching between drills, that would be great.
My vote is Apple Watch app added for PLAY-PAUSE as a mandatory minimum like your hardware remote. Drill switching would be too limited and cumbersome on a physical button remote but much easier via Watch iOS. But I am glad at least there is a Titan Remote handheld remote to Play-Pause. Now release it as a wearable wrist remote. https://titanballmachines.com/community/xenforum/topic/148075/how-to-make-a-titan-remote-wearable-and-100-more-usable
The current app and everything I have read so far on the yet to be released app seems like the UI is remaining unintuitive. You seriously need to look at your competitors like Hydrogen Sports Proton and Erne Pickleball and see what an intuitive interface operates like using the court graphic and actual units that mean something like mph, rpm, etc. Your interface looks like it was designed by a hardware engineer and not a software engineer trained in graphic UI. The Simulate feature LOOKS cool but that doesn't help much intuitively knowing what 1-20 range setting is. UPDATE: Love the new Titan Drills Pro app changes!
I use SwingVision for pickleball and they do a pretty decent integration with their Apple watch app. Look at that watch app to see a simple interface design. An app widget would make Pause/Resume function simple to access. Do not get rid of the hardware remote for basic Start/Stop because there are those without a smartwatch or having too many connectivity issues. And sign me up as a BETA tester for Titan.
@Sarah @ Titan I bought a remote earlier this year. Is it possible to update it so that it doesn't switch drills on short presses? Or is this mode only available on new remotes? https://titanballmachines.com/blogs/articles/titan-announces-update-to-titan-remote-simplified-start-stop-functionality
An Apple Watch app for pause/resume would be a great addition to the Titan app. It would be much simpler than digging in your pocket for a remote.
Titan Remote Wrist Strap. Simple DIY project or CLICK HERE> TITAN REMOTE WEARABLE CASE
It may not be the most elegant solution for the Titan Remote but it is functional. My problem was having a negative experience not to quickly and easily trigger a Stop/Start from the remote in my pocket or hanging from a carabiner on my belt loop. So while we all wait for a Smart Watch app I thought why not strap the remote to my wrist so pressing the button would be just as easy as accessing my watch.
I looked at a couple armband phone holders that could work by slipping the remote in place of a phone but I just so happened to be replacing my Apple Watch band so I modified it to work with the Remote. Brand new this wrist strap is less than $10 on Amazon. I like it because the straps don't come apart making it easy to put on and off.
I put a couple large staples through the cloth sports wrist band to hold the ends together where the Apple Watch normally would be holding the two bands together. I placed the adhesive industrial strength Velcro over the joint created by the staples. I removed the strap and placed a Velcro mating piece on the back of the Remote. That's it. It works fine and would not look so awkward if they hadn't built the remote large for using it as a handheld device. I am sure they never thought someone was going to try mount it on a wrist/arm. 😂 The PCB and battery together is the size of a watch so maybe someone with a 3D printer can design a smaller case with slits for a Velcro strip to pass through.
It stores well too on the Titan in the little space below the handle. The watch band I used has Velcro attachments so I wrapped it around the handle pole for a handy spot to secure and store the Remote.
UPDATE: It became clear very quickly that having the remote accessible on the wrist was far easier to operate so plans were set upon in designing a custom Wearable Case for the Titan Remote
